"The summer before I was to begin eighth grade, my parents asked if I wanted to attend this new Restoration school called Center Place Restoration School. I really was not interested in attending CPRS, but my younger sister was excited to attend.
During my eighth grade year of school, I thought I had my life pretty well planned. I was set to attend Truman High School where I was going to play volleyball, play my flute in the band/orchestra, sing in the choir, and take as many dual credit classes as I could. After high school, I knew I wanted to become a high school English teacher. None of these items were a question for me.
All school year I heard my sister come home from school excitedly telling about a chapel, retelling an amazing testimony, or sharing about God working in some
awesome way. I couldn’t help but
want to be part of those things,
too, but the fact still remained that
CPRS didn’t have many of the
“extras” that I thought were
important. The summer before
I was to begin high school, I
attended several church camps
where lots of kids were talking
about CPRS. Many people asked
if I was going to come to school there. I was still hesitant. The rest of the summer I spent a great deal of time making a pros and cons list for attending CPRS. My family and I prayed about the decision often. I really struggled with the decision. At the last possible moment, just days before I would start high school, I decided to step out in faith and attend CPRS.
I cannot imagine my life without CPRS. The classes I had at CPRS completely prepared me for life and college—from writing essays, to reading a broad range of literature, to basic accounting skills, to having a great understanding of chemistry, to being more than equipped for college Spanish. But beyond all these educational blessings, I gained so much in my spiritual life. The religion classes are something I will always remember—I have so many notes in my scriptures and insights gained while studying the Bible, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants. Every day we had a guest share in chapel or we had prayers—these were moments of great spiritual uplift. We had the opportunity to fast once a week during lunch. The Spirit of God was strong when we met to worship and learn.
The school hymn was sung in reverence as we each felt the truth and sincerity of the words—it was our desire.
While I had my long list of things I thought were important for high school, I gained so much more than I could have ever imagined. I learned to stand for righteousness and truth. I learned to turn to God in every moment. I will always be thankful to God for nudging me to attend CPRS."

"Looking back at my years at CPRS, they are all positive memories. I feel CPRS helped shape me into who I am today. I started at CPRS in kindergarten and left after my 1st grade year, but then returned for my 8th grade year and stayed and graduated from CPRS in 2008. There are many ways the Lord worked in my life through my school years, one being that He opened the door to return to CPRS. But when I think on what made CPRS so meaningful to me, and where I think God created a lasting impact on my life, is through the friendships I created at CPRS. There were many friendships from CPRS and those people are still strong and present in my life today. I feel it’s a rarity when you have friends that you were able to grow with not only physically, but spiritually, and because of that, those same people are still in my life. We are still able to worship together and continue our spiritual walk together because of that strong friendship developed during my elementary and high school years. Through CPRS, God has blessed my with amazing friends and some are even family now, that continually keep me rooted in serving our God."
